The Antique Cluster through the leadership of cluster leader Mrs. Ruth Martinez initiated a Mushroom Growing workshop in partnership with the Department of Agriculture Research Outreach Station Region -VI based in Patnongon, Antique. The training lasted for 2 days where the 17 participants learned the different phases of mushroom growing. From fruiting bag preparation, spawning, sterilization, and other technologies that can be applied with the use of basic materials that our farmers can replicate with little to no cost.
This initiative was possible because of the partnerships and collaboration of different organizations. We are very thankful to the Department of Agriculture for providing us with materials and technical assistance. We would also like to extend our thanks to the Aningalan CBTO (Community Based Tourism Organization) for preparing food for the participants. The group has learned a lot and weโre excited to apply what we have learned as some of the members already have.
